At Mr Porter Tutoring, we help children build their skills, grow in confidence and discover what they're really capable of.

 

We offer friendly, teacher-led English and Maths tutoring, from primary school through to GCSE, including 11+ preparation and specialist support for children who learn a little differently.

​

And we try to make learning something children actually look forward to!

Every child is different. And that's a good thing.

​

Some children love school. Others find it a bit of a struggle.

​

Some are bursting with confidence, while others quietly worry about getting things wrong.

​

I've met children who can tackle the trickiest Maths questions but are terrified of putting their hand up in class. Others have wonderful ideas but find it difficult to get them down on paper.

​

And then there are those who have simply decided, somewhere along the way, that they're not very good at learning.

If any of that sounds familiar, you're certainly not alone.

​

I believe every child deserves to feel successful.

​

Sometimes that means finding a different way to explain something. Sometimes it means slowing things down, taking away the pressure or giving a child the chance to experience a few small successes.

​

And sometimes it just means having someone beside them who says, "Come on, let's give it another go. We'll work it out together."

​

A friendly place to learn, laugh and grow.

Our Learning Hub in the heart of Newton Abbot is somewhere children can feel comfortable being themselves.

It's not another classroom where they have to worry about keeping up with everyone else.

​

It's a place where questions are encouraged, mistakes are part of learning and every bit of progress is worth celebrating.

 

We work with children individually and in small groups, taking time to get to know their personalities, strengths and the things they find difficult.

​

There are plenty of opportunities to talk things through, share ideas, use practical resources and have a bit of fun along the way.

​

Because children learn so much better when they're relaxed, happy and feel they belong.
